The acting provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has slammed reports by certain media houses, who claimed that SANDF was deployed at the Durban City Hall ahead of a planned march, earlier this week.
Police management were informed of the planned march and deployed police officers accordingly.

In the joint statement by the SAPS and SANDF, it is indicated that SANDF, who also had a planned event at the city hall, were never involved in the policing of the march as it is not within their mandate.

“We appeal to media houses to report with integrity and to refrain from misleading the public by not verifying facts,” the statement concluded.
