Durban North business staff assaulted with mallet during robbery

The staff were assaulted with a mallet.

Staff at a business premises in Kenville in Durban North were injured after armed robbers held them up and assaulted them with a mallet, on Friday afternoon.

Community and media liaison officer for Blue Security, Andreas Mathios said two suspects armed with firearms and a mallet entered the premises in Stanhope Road at around 2pm and ordered the staff to lie on the ground.

The suspects demanded cash and jewellery from the staff, and beat some of the staff with a mallet.

“They fled the scene with cellphones, laptops, jewellery and an undisclosed sum of cash,” Mathios said.

He added that ER24 paramedics attended the scene and transported two of the injured staff to hospital. 

Greenwood Park SAPS was also at the scene of the crime.
