Mrs Africa Continental finalist determined to make a change

Christina Maloka is excited about the doors that this fantastic opportunity will open for her.

Proud Glenmore resident, Christina Maloka was filled with pride and joy when she was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Mrs Africa Continental 2018 pageant, recently. She is confident that this exciting journey will enable her to make a difference in the community.

The 33-year-old was born and bred in the Free State. She then moved to Durban to study further and ended up residing in the area permanently. Maloka is a proud mother of two boys as well as a guardian to her sister’s son.

She explained that she came across the pageant after entering the Mrs KZN pageant. She was thrilled when she discovered that there are pageants for married women and that also don’t have height and weight restrictions.

“I lost my son when he was six-months-old and that changed my life forever. I know what it’s like to be depressed and there’s a lot of women out there, who silently suffer in depression and some of them take drastic actions just to fix it,” she said.

The more research she did about Pageant Africa, the more she fell in love with what it stands for. She entered the pageant to share her pain and experiences with other women, who might need to hear that they not alone.

She is very passionate about babies and wants to run a foundation of her own one day, helping babies, who are unwanted to be cared for and find loving homes for them.

“It saddens me to wake up to news that a baby was found in the trash or in the bushes. I believe women, who do this, are crying out for help. I don’t think you can give up your baby like that and remain the same. I want them to know there are other options and that there’s help for them as well. That’s why I’m going to open my own foundation for such women,” she added.

The Africa Pageants Foundation supports three worthy causes on the African continent and the 2018 finalists will work hand in hand with official charity organisations to give #Dignity4All.

Christina is looking forward to embark on this journey and all the opportunities it will open for her. The prestigious pageant week and gala event will take place from November 23 to December 2, 2018 in the picturesque North West province.
