A Westville couple was lucky to escape uninjured when they were hijacked in their driveway on Wednesday night.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios said three armed men held the couple up at gunpoint outside their property in Constance Cawstone Road just after 8pm.
“The hijackers arrived in their own vehicle, held up the couple and fled in their vehicle. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.

Westville SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
Mathios said crime statistics show that prime spots where hijackings take place are in the driveways of residential and business properties.
“Organised criminals stake out their victims when plotting a hijacking, but there are also opportunistic criminals who cruise around neighbourhoods in search of an opportunity to strike an easy target,” Mathios said.
He added, “Being vigilant and conscious of your personal security goes a long way to preventing crime.”
He also advised residents to also ensure any overgrown bushes or trees are regularly trimmed so that criminals will not be able to find hiding places to lie in wait.
“It’s also so important for communities to work together in neighbourhood watch groups to fight crime. Even if you are an elderly person living at home, you can be eyes and ears for your neighbours by reporting any suspicious activity to your security company, such as a vehicle driving up and down the road aimlessly during the day, and so possibly prevent a serious crime like a hijacking,” Mathios said.
