Gunmen target fast food franchise in Durban North

Greenwood Park SAPS are investigating a case of business robbery after a fast food franchise on Kenneth Kaunda Road in Durban North was robbed, on Saturday night.

It is believed that staff and customers were also robbed of their cellphones and tablets.  According to the station’s communications officer, Sgt Vincent Mthembu, a gang of three armed men stormed the fast food franchise and demanded cash from the till.

“The customers and staff were held at gunpoint and the suspects also demanded their valuables. An amount of R10, 000 was taken from the till,” he said.

The suspects fled the scene in an unknown white vehicle. No shots were fired and no arrests have been made as yet. Mthembu has urged business owners to install panic buttons at their premises.

“People should always be on the lookout for suspicious activities in their surroundings and immediately report to the police. We are working around the clock to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested,” added Sgt Mthembu.
