Serving the community for 50 years

Aroon Edwards was honoured for his work in the community.

For 50 years, Aroon Edwards has been serving the  community and putting the needs of others first.  His hard work and efforts have not gone unnoticed as he was honoured with an accolade by renowned entertainer, Pinky Mothie, who held a function to pay tribute to SA Legends.

His community service started with offering assistance at the VN Naik School in 1975. He was then involved in education and caring for the aged.  Edwards also started teaching karate to seniors to defend themselves in times of danger. 

On average, the Clare Estate resident sees to about 20 elderly people a week and assists them with various issues through his help desk. Edwards now works closely with the Kampara Senior Citizen’s Club.

Apart from dealing with the elderly, he is also involved in music and culture.  Edwards has hosted various cultural shows including the sari queen contest.
