In a bid to root out criminal activities in the community, the Greenwood Park SAPS Crime Prevention Team arrested 24 suspects for various crimes during stop and search operations and random road-blocks held at its policing precinct, over the weekend.

The perpetrators were nabbed for cases such as dealing in liquor, possession of dangerous weapons, illegal immigration and dealing in drugs. The station’s communications officer, Sgt Vincent Mthembu said such operations are ongoing throughout the year as their mission is to maintain law and order in the community.

Sgt Mthembu also said that officers have a zero-tolerance attitude towards crime and all perpetrators will be locked behind bars. “As we end the festive season, we urge residents to respect the law, and all road traffic rules,” he said. Station commander of Greenwood Park SAPS, Col MI Mngani commended the crime prevention officers for making good arrests.
