The police officers arrived at the outbuilding following information regarding illegal monitoring of police and emergency services operations. The police officers took at least one week monitoring and observing the illegal criminal activities.

Police suspected that there might be someone who was leaking information on police operations to criminals. Provincial police spokesman, Lt Col Thulani Zwane said while inside the outbuilding, the suspect was found with different two-way radios and was listening to activities by Metro Police, SAPS and EMRS on the different channels. A total of 20 two-way radios were confiscated and will be used as exhibits.
