Police officers from the Durban Special Tasked Force were part of an intelligence-driven operation, during which five wanted suspects were apprehended. KZN’s acting provincial commissioner, Maj Gen Bheki Langa praised police officers for the arrest of the suspects during the festive season operations.
“These dangerous criminals, who have been evading police for a while, were cornered by police officers. They have been linked to a number of crimes such as murders, armed robberies, hijackings and rapes. We will also establish if they are wanted for any other crimes in the province,” he said.
The police officers were acting on verified intelligence when the arrests were made. The suspects were found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Police also seized a suspected stolen vehicle. All five suspects were charged for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and suspected stolen property. The Durban Special Task Force were commended by police officials.
