DHS pupil to represent SA in rugby squad

Durban High School congratulated pupil, Celimpilo Gumede, on his selection for the South African Rugby Union Under 17 Sevens Squad training camp and tournament preparation, which will take place at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport from October 22 to30.

As part of this squad, Gumede, 17, will also participate in the Assupol Sevens Tournament from October 29 to 30. The highly talented pupil recently participated in the Elite Player Development Phase 2 – Under 17 Assessment Camp, which was held at Hugenote High School in Wellington and was also a part of the Sharks High Schools Under 17 Sevens Squad.

Gumede hails from Mtubatuba and plays for the DHS 1st XV rugby. Some of his achievements this year have been his selection as part of the KZN Craven Week team and the SA Schools Under 19 team that played in the Under 19 International Series against France, Wales and England in Cape Town in July.
