Mayville artist works with top SA producer

South African hip-hop has been given high recognition around the world and this has pushed youngsters to get into the industry and chase their dreams without hesitation.

Linda Mvubu (22), popularly known as ‘Young Scar’, is a Durban-born artist that has pushed his way into the hip-hop game. Mvubu has already worked with Tweezy, a well-known South African producer, who has produced hits such as AKA’s ‘Sim dope’ and ‘Run Jozi.’

The dynamic ‘Young Scar’ has also worked with Pilot Films which is a big television production company on his recent hit titled, ‘Fellaz’. His hit singles include ‘Everything must fall’ and ‘Young and dirty’ which have become quite popular in hip-hop circles.

The young artist from Mayville in Durban said he aspires to be like Cassper Nyovest and Jay Z because they are not in the industry just for music, he admires them for their entrepreneurship. He believes that with determination anything is possible.

Mvubu said he realised that he was musically talented at the age of seven after he rapped his first song to his friends. From then, he fell in love with music and not a day goes by without him listening to music. He said music runs in the family and his parents have showed great support throughout his journey thus far.

“My mother sings like an angel and my little brother seems to be following my footsteps because he spits rhymes like a professional,” Mvubu said.

The young go-getter said his favourite artist of all time is American rapper, Kanye West, because he knows what he is doing and he is always trying something new. “He is not just an artist, but a fashion designer, record producer, a businessman and a family man which is why I look up to him,” Mvubu added.
