Man survives after being stabbed over nine times

A Clare Estate resident is lucky to be alive after being stabbed over nine times following an altercation with an acquaintance in Spencer Road on Sunday.

Members of the Clare Estate Action Committee (CEAC) were called on scene by residents, they found the man lying on the floor with several stab wounds and assisted him with first aid.

The committee chairman, Vincent Chetty said, “We attended to the victim and called for further assistance from the local ambulance services and SAPS.”

It is alleged that the victim went to the suspect to inquire about a radio, then an altercation broke-out resulting in the victim being stabbed multiple times on his body, including his head.

Sydenham police spokesman, Cpt Myentherin Lazarus, said police are investigating a case of attempted murder following the incident. “We are positive that we will be making an arrest soon as the suspect is known,” he said. The victim was transported to Addington Hospital.
