Durban High School recently welcomed a visit by a group of pupils from St Augustines Primary whose aim was to learn more about the travelling exhibition called ‘The Promise’. The exhibition, in partnership with the Durban Holocaust Centre, is a depiction of the life of Eva Schloss, a Holocaust survivor and the step-sister of Anne Frank.

The exhibition tells the story of her family’s experience during the Holocaust and is dedicated to her brother, Heinz, who perished during the Holocaust.

Miss Erica Goring, the DHS history teacher, spent time with the children, teaching them about the exhibition and informing them about the dangers of discrimination and the need to treat refugees with kindness and dignity, which is the intention of the entire exhibition.

The exhibition will run at Durban High School until Friday, August 18 and will be open for bookings between 8:30am and 4pm.  Surrounding schools may bring their pupils in groups of no more than 30 at a time to view the exhibition. Groups must make bookings with Erica Goring at [email protected]
