Woman dies in CBD crash

One person died and four others sustained various injuries after two vehicles collided at the corner of West and Prince Alfred Streets in Durban CBD on Sunday morning.

According to Rescue Care paramedics, operational director, Garrith Jamieson, the accident occurred after 8am. “Rescue Care paramedics arrived on scene to find that two vehicles had collided in a T-bone format. One vehicle then overturned coming to rest on its side. A female passenger who was entrapped in the one vehicle had sustained major injuries and unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for her and she was declared deceased at the scene,” he said.

Members of the Durban Fire Department extricated the passenger from the vehicle. Four people from both vehicles had sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to various Hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage, the exact cause of the collision is unknown, however, SAPS was in attendance and are  investigating further.
