12 taxi commuters injured in Northcoast Road crash

Twelve taxi commuters were injured following an accident along Northcoast Road near Queen Nandi Drive, over the weekend. Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the scene of the collision on Saturday morning around 5:27am.

Reports from the scene indicated that a vehicle veered across the centre median and collided head-on with a mini-bus. Netcare 911’s Chris Botha said, “The exact details to the cause of the incident, however, will form part of a police investigation.”

According to Botha, paramedics found that the driver of the car had left the scene before their arrival. “Twelve taxi commuters sustained moderate to minor injuries. They were treated at the scene before they were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care,” he added.
